Office 365 is a subscription-based service from Microsoft intended to provide the latest versions of the Microsoft Office suite. This is provided for free while you are an active employee or student and can be accessed through a web browser (similarly to Google Docs), or installed as a suite of applications.

No - the full Office 365 suite is provided for free while you are an active employee or student.

Professor Emeritus and Alumni will retain email access.

The latest versions of the Office suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

You are also provided with 1TB of storage via OneDrive to store your documents and files.

Office 365 can be downloaded and installed on Windows PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.

There are also web-based versions of most applications which run entirely in your web browser and require no installation (similar to Google Docs and G-Suite) but may lack some advanced features from the desktop client.
